FROM LOSS TO STILLNESS, STILLNESS TO FIRE
Pronounced Jay “Di” (diamond 💎) or “D” (dragon 🐉) Millah, Jay began writing songs on guitar at nineteen following the tragic loss of his father. What began as grief quickly crystallized into an obsession with musical expression, sound architecture, and early electronic production on a Yamaha RS7000 groovebox.
Then came fifteen years of intentional silence. Stepping away from the commercial music industry, Jay dedicated a decade and a half to raising his two daughters and deepening a rigorous daily meditation practice in the Blue Ridge mountains.
Around 2020, immersion in shamanic traditions introduced the discipline of “power songs”—hypnotic sonic structures engineered to cultivate energy, presence, and inner strength. Armed with a Remo buffalo drum, whistles, breath rhythms, and primal vocalizations, he composed seventeen sacred power songs that anchored his morning rituals.
In 2025, Jay picked up the five-string banjo. Fusing Appalachian folk-inspired fingerpicking with modern urban pocket beats alongside Asheville producer JAH KNEE DEE, JayDyMilla emerged: music of radical authenticity, inner discovery, and infectious dance.
“His songs explore authenticity, imagination, inner worlds, freedom, and the strange glow that appears when creativity is fully embraced.”
